Russian PM Appreciates Olam during Sunny's Visit.

Sunny visits Russia and meets Russian Prime Minister.

Olam's Co-founder and Group CEO Sunny Verghese visited Russia from 16 to 19 October. He participated in the plenary meeting of the Foreign Investment Advisory Council (FIAC), assembling 36 CEOs of leading multinational companies, including Cargill, Nestle, Mitsubishi, MasterCard, Danone, PepsiCo, Unilever, BP, Metro AG and others.

On the sidelines of FIAC, Sunny had a one-on-one meeting with Dmitry Medvedev, Prime Minister of Russia, who was very well informed about the Company's activities in Russia to the extent, that he commented that ' Rusmolco's average per cow milk production of over 9000 lt/cow/yr is more than two times the national average!". PM Medvedev said he truly appreciated Olam's investments in the Russian Agriculture sector which is of national importance and especially in dairy farming in the Penza Region. He added that he will be supportive of Olam's further investment plans in Russia.

Sunny visited Penza, the Troisk seed factory, Pachelma elevator and railroad, Narovchat dairy facilities, two breeding farms in Kuznetsk and Agri central base from 18 to 19 October to meet the frontline team and evaluate progress,. He travelled over a 1000 km by road and even the wind chill and dipping temperatures could not do much to dampen the team's enthusiasm and they covered harvests of Sugar beets and Corn besides looking at dairy feed production. He was happy to see the team's passion and real progress in line with plans and commitments that were made in both Dairy and commercial Agriculture divisions. His personal interaction with the teams on the ground has left them further energised and committed to continue on this growth path and he promised to be back next year same time same place to check progress once again.
